Hello, it's been a while

Thank you for all of your kind emails regarding my blog. I am pleased that I have had the opportunity to share my opinions with you. While I am looking elsewhere for a sponsor, I am happy to say that I have something to say.

MLB: Is it going to take some one's death before you mandate Ash bats and abolish maple bats? Please see the NHL.

NBA: Kobe congrats on your championship without Shaq. Just remember there were 11 other people on the roster that helped you get there.

NHL: As if Pittsburgh needed another Champion.

PGA: Phil, there are a lot of thoughts and prayers with you as you and your family begin a course much tougher than Bethpage Black.

Soccer: Congrats to team USA. As my not so good friend Billy Bob Thornton said in Armageddon. Just sit back and relax, you're already heroes.

Off the beaten path: Manny...cut your hair, you are no longer a god of any type.

Ahhhh......the beauty of being back again.

It's been a while, and I am sorry.

The reason I have not been posting lately is that my advertisers have left. I know that to my faithful readers it doesn't mean much, but I put a lot of research time and effort to bring you my thoughts and opinions. I am currently searching for a new place to write my blog, and when I am settled in, I will let you know where it is. I appreciate all of you that read my posts on a regular basis, and I will be back sooner rather than later.

I honestly love you all!!

Five good reasons the Super Bowl should not be held in London

Sorry if the NFL thinks that they can pull one over on U.S football fans by having London host a Super Bowl, as my not good friends Judas Priest once said, they have another think coming. Here are five pretty compelling reasons that the Super Bowl should be played within the friendly confines of the upper 48 states.

1) Buffalo wings vs. Fish and Chips.

2) Guacamole vs. what the hell is guacamole

3) Cheerleaders that have teeth vs. cheerleaders that have teeth implants.

4) Super Bowl half time show: What's left of Van Halen vs. What's left of the Beatles.

5) If Brett can lead the Vikings to the Super Bowl, can you imagine one million British American football fans buying a jersey that has a last name of French origin? NOPE........NOT ME.

One plus the UK has on America with regard to the hosting of the Super Bowl? In the UK there is no such thing as a wardrobe malfunction. Man I love the Brits.

Has anyone seen my magnifying glass, tartar sauce, and monocle?

Manny being........a LIAR!!!!

It has been well documented in my blog exactly what I think of Man-Ram. I thought he was the one last shred of hope we had for baseball players that were without sin, and by sin, I mean without the use of steroids.

Alas, I was wrong. It was a sad day when I heard the lame excuse that Manny and his reps gave us, the public his lame ass excuse of why he failed a drug test administered by MLB.

I am no religious fanatic by any stretch of the word, however I find that there is an uncanny parallel to the story of Samson and Manny.

Manny is very proud of his hair. So much so that he had a clause in his new contract with the Dodgers that he was in control of how long his hair could be and his manager had no say with regard to the matter what so ever.

The Bible says that Samson found his strength because of the length of his hair. As long as his hair was untouched, he would remain unbeatable no matter who or what his foe was.

Since Manny has been found to be less than invulnerable, I believe that he should cut off his pride as an act of contrition and start from square one.

Manny has no right to display his pride in his hair like Samson, nor the King of the Jungle (the lion). Manny now has to come back to earth and re-gain the respect of baseball fans all over the world that have enabled him to earn a two year contract worth $45 million dollars.

If you would like to see how Manny looked before he became famous, please see the pic above.

Has anyone seen my shears?

Ahhhh........the beauty of a new beginning.

Everyone has an epiphany, even athletes.

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4139091

After hearing Rick Ankiel's take on his brutal collision with the left center field wall in St. Louis the night before last. I feel compelled to write about his thoughts at that very scary moment.

The last thing that wet through Ankiel's mind before the collision was this.

"My career is finished.
I thought that might be it, the St. Louis Cardinal's outfielder said Tuesday. "When you don't get a chance to put up your hands to protect yourself, I'm lucky to be walking today. Anything from here is a plus."

The most inspiring words in my mind are "anything from here is a plus".

Unfortunately there are many people that do not have the opportunity to say those words and get to walk, talk or in fact live. There are so many time in sports that we see the worst possible scenario for players and athletes that suffer collisions like this one and do not have the opportunity to continue with their careers, let alone a normal life.

If you believe in karma, perhaps this was Ankiel getting what he deserves, a second chance. Yes, I am well aware that he used to be a pitcher until he came down with a career altering case of the "yips" but there were a few players that could not over come them. Please Mackey Sasser. But in Rick's case, he worked his tail off and his worked payed exponential dividends, in the likeness of another shot at another position in the major league.

I am sure that he will be grateful for everything he has, and I can only hope that he shares his experience with people that have been less fortunate.

Has anyone seen my lucky horseshoe?

Ahhh...the beauty of a fraction of an inch either way.

We have some catching up to do!

Congratulations to LeBron James for being named the MVP of the NBA. My pick was Dwayne Wade, but he finished a distant third. I am truly happy for King James, it seems a thought he has matured way beyond his twenty-four years of age.

The second game between the Capitals and the Penguins was very exciting as well. It s not very often that you see the two best players from each team score a hat trick. That was awesome to watch.

Mine that Bird, the Kentucky Derby winner...hmmmmm I have a better chance of seeing God than that horse does of winning the Triple Crown. It was an awesome race, and quite frankly, the blimp coverage of his comeback was quite invigorating to say the least. At least the owner has the cajones to race the horse at the Preakness.

The Houston Rockets upset of the L.A. Lakers was rather surprising. I am fairly sure it was a fluke, but that is why they play the games. My prediction for the NBA Finals is the Nuggets vs. The Cavaliers.

OK fine an MLB update, the Met's starting rotation sucks. The Dodgers are looking good. The Royals are a very pleasant surprise. The Blue Jays maybe this year's version of the Rays. Oh....he he and yes, the Yankees suck too!!!!!!

I digress. May the family of the assistant coach of the Dallas Cowboys that was permanently paralyzed from the waist down, find a peace in their hearts to continue on and fight the good fight.

Our lives are so fragile, please don't ever forget that.

Has anyone seen my Southern Comfort shot glass?

Ahhhhh....the beauty and sorrow that is sports. Hmmm.....sounds a lot like life....doesn't it?

Better things to do.

The NHL is in it's second round of playoffs with some great match ups to say the least. The series between the Bulls and the Celtics is without question one of the greatest of all time, even with Garnett out with an injury.

So, what am I writing about? A-Rod. This guy was supposed to be the second coming, the guy that was going to make us forget about the steroid era in baseball. What happens? A book comes out about how he may have done this and he may have done that.

Here is the bottom line with regard to all of these allegations and rhetoric. Unless the author can prove what did and did not happen, why bother writing a book about speculation? I know that other non-fictional books have been written without proof in the past (which I will not name due to the fact I do not feel like being struck by lightning). But I do not think Selena Roberts was there to see any of this crap that allegedly took place.

So what's next for baseball? Who is our next savior? I have a couple of ideas/suggestions. Ryan Howard, Albert Pujols and.....um......ahem........Manny Ramirez. There, I said it. Man-Ram has never been tied to any illicit drugs, and he is without question one of the greatest hitters of all time.

I say we leave A-Fraud alone, and let him live with his personal lies forever. We have other places to look for a hero. If I were a Yankee fan.......boo the crap out of him to the point that he has to leave the Bronx...if not the game.

Ahhhh.......the beauty of those that have not sinned casting the first stone.

2009 NFL Draft Grades

OK, here we go. Let's see how your favorite team did in this year's draft according to me. I will go from best grades to worst. Cross your fingers, cause here we go.

Green Bay Packers: A: Filled a lot of needs especially on defense. Nice draft. B.J. Raji is going to plug up many holes and Clay Matthews has a grat pedigree.

New England Patriots: A: 12 picks in this year's draft, I am willing to bet that at least 8 of those picks make next year's squad.

Baltimore Ravens: A: Except for Ladarius Webb needing to eat some steak at the team buffet, e is the real deal with regard to cover corners.

New York Jets: A-: The Sanchez trade was a nice move, but we will have to see if he is NFL ready this year.

Jacksonville Jaguars: A-: Letting Crabtree go may be a big mistake, but hopefully Holt can quiet down a very "busy" locker room and teach some of the younger receivers how to run a good NFL passing route.

Arizona Cardinals: B+: Wells is a good fit. He is a big back with nice speed. Health concerns are the reason he fell to the Cards, but I think that talk was overblown. Johnson and Brown should play early on. Added some depth on defense.

New York Giants: B: Nicks is a great pick. He has great speed, but I am not sure that he is ready to take over Plaxico's spot.

Chicago Bears: B: They grabbed a few wide receivers in the last four rounds which is nice. But the best thing they did was pick up Cutler in a trade. "Da Bears" will be fighting for the division title for sure.

Detroit Lions: B: Stafford had better be ready, or it is going to be a long season for him. It looks as though there is actually a brain trust in Detroit because they actually mixed in some great defensive picks.

Atlanta Falcons: B: The made some great defensive picks this year and this will help propel them to the playoffs next year yet again.

New Orleans Saints: B: The Saints also addressed defense with this draft. I think the NFC South will be second only to the AFC South as the toughest division in all of football.

Houston Texans: B: This team will make the playoffs sooner rather than later. I love Brian Cushing, there is just something about him that says who do I hit next?

Indianapolis Colts: B: I love Brown out of UCONN. This kid can flat out run. Mix him in With Joseph Addai, and that is one formidable backfield.

Seattle Seahawks: Aaron Curry is an absolute stud and he fits nicely in a 3-4 scheme. Unger out of Oregon is a great offensive lineman that can play either center or guard. The weight of these two picks alone gave them such a good grade as far as I am concerned.

Tenn. Titans: B: The Titans added three receivers in this draft. One Tight End and two receivers with after burners. The front office did a great job considering they get shut out of the Anquan Boldin sweepstakes.

Piladelphia Eagles: B: Maclin and McCoy are two awesome picks. Those additions to the offense should keep McNabb happy....for now.

Cincinnati Bengals: B: I like Smith and Maualuga a lot, Mr. Lewis will have to get them both babysitters, but they can play the game.

St. Louis Rams: B: Jason Smith was a nice pick, maybe a little too early, but a good pick none the less. Laurinaitis is a big hitter with little to no regard for his own physical well being. Something you always love to see in a line backer.

Pittsburgh Steelers: B: The Super Bowl champions did not select any immediate help in this draft. They did take some long term projects that may pan out. How can you question a championship team's front office?

Kansas City Chiefs: B-: The Chiefs did add some much needed talent on the defensive side of the ball with the first two picks. We shall see if Matt Cassel is in fact the second coming.

San Diego Chargers: B-: If Mr. Merriman comes back and stays healthy this year, the draft was a good one for the Bolts. If he and "LT" are out for any significant time this year, Norv may be on the hot seat for no good reason.

San Francisco 49ers: B-: I love Crabtree and it was a shame to see him still there at number 10 (unless you are a niner's fan). I also like Coffee as a solid RB in the future. The rest of their picks will be a work in progress.

Miami Dolphins: C: Vontae Davis is the brother of Vernon Davis of the SF 49ers. His attitude is as big as his brother's. Pat White is a stretch at the QB position, if anyone can make it work, the Big Tuna can, oh wait....he is not the head coach.

Dallas Cowboys: C: While they did not have a pick in the first two rounds, the Cowboys made 12 picks in this year's draft. Throw them against a wall and we will see who sticks.

Buffalo Bills: C-: I love Maybin as an end in this league and OL Eric Wood should be a starter sooner than later, all other pics were rather pedestrian.

Washington Redskins: C-: I love Orakpo, he could start right away. They added some depth on defense, but their last three picks will probably not make the squad.

Minnesota Vikings: C-: If Harvin can stay healthy and out of trouble, he will be a star in the league. The Vikes only had five picks in the draft. After Harvin, there is not much to write home about.

Carolina Panthers: C: I love the getting Fiametta in the fourth round. He will fit into their offensive scheme right away. I also like Everette Brown out of FSU. This kid has a great motor and can cause some serious problems for opponents passing games. Considering they had no picks in the top 50, they did get some talent.

Cleveland Browns: C: The Browns actually got more talent in the trade with the Jets than they did in the draft. That is the only thing that kept them average in grade.

Tampa Bay Bucs: C-: While they got a project a QB in Freeman that could pay off long term, they did not get themselves any immediate starters on offense or defense.

Denver Broncos: D: Knowshon Moreno was not only the best back in the draft, but one of my favorites in this class. The problem is they signed 3 free agent running backs this off season. Has Coach McDaniels ever heard of defense?

Oakland Raiders: F: Heyward-Bey is a speed receiver but a huge reach at number 7 overall. Al Davis loves the stop watch instead of looking at people that have football skills. Did I not say that they need a new owner? Michael Mitchell wasn't the smartest of picks in the second round either. If I were Jamarcus Russell, I would call in too well to play........ (every day).

There are my grades based on acquisitions compare to team needs. This may sound funny, but I think that there will be some superstars in the batch of non-drafted free agents that have been invited to the upcoming rookie mini-camps.

Good luck to you and your teams.

Ahhh....the beauty of future pro-bowlers and hall of famers.

2009 NFL Draft Grades

I am in the middle of putting together my grades for this past weekend's NFL draft. I will post my results shortly.

2009 NFL Draft Preview

I wanted to share some thoughts and predictions on this year's NFL Draft which is taking place Saturday.

First off, I would like to say that this draft is very deep at a lot of positions. I think that the next generation of potential hall of famers will be found out of this year's talent.

Secondly, I would hope that with all of the hard times that have be felled Detroit recently due to the recession, that the Lions trade their number one pick if they are still unsure as to who they wil select with their overall number one pick. So many people are out of jobs there and the thought of this year's number one pick being guaranteed $34 million over three years is a tough pill to swallow for the citizens of this once proud and strong city.

That being said, here are my best guestimates and list of dark horses in this year's draft. I am only giving you my top ten picks because the Washington Redskin's owner Daniel Snyder plays a pivotal part of what can happen in the first round, it doesn't make sense to pick more than that for now. If Washington moves up to number three and picks Mark Sanchez, all bets are off.

OK, Here we go!!

1) Detroit Lions: Needs; OL,QB, MLB, DL, WR Pick: Matthew Stafford QB, Georgia: Right man for the job, cannon of an arm, better than average accuracy, and high football IQ.

2) St. Rams: Needs: OL, LB, LB, WR, CB, TE Pick: Jason Smith, OL, Baylor: Smith stands at 6'5" tall and weighs 305 lbs. Smith was the first non soecial teams player to make All American sine 1975.

3) Kansas City Chiefs: Needs; LB, DL, OL, S: Pick: Eugene Monroe, OT, Univ. Virginia: Also 6'5" 305lbs. The Rams need help on the offensive line, and this stud of an athlete would be a great fit.

4) Seattle Seahawks: Needs; CB, OL, QB, S: Pick: Mark Sanchez QB, USC: Here is where the first round could get interesting. If the Redskins move up and snatch Sanchez, I believe the Seahawks will pick Michael Crabtree out of Texas Tech with this pick. It is a big if, so let's pretend it doesn't happen.

5) Cleveland Browns: Needs; LB, CB, S, OL, TE, WR: Pick: B.J. Raji DT Boston College: Raji is a fierce pass rusher. At 6'2: and 337 lbs. Raji is a good athlete and is a constant nuisance for opposing offenses.

6) Cincinatti Bengals: Needs; DL, OL, RB, S: Pick: Brian Orakpo, DE, Univ. Texas: Brian is 6'3" 263 lbs. He was a consensus All American his senior year collecting 11.5 sacks.

7) Oakland Raiders: Needs; A New Owner (just kidding...almost); WR, OL, CB, S, DL, LB: Jeremy Maclin, WR Missouri. Jeremy was a first team All American selection. Not only can he catch the ball, he can run all day long. Some scouts say that his top end speed is not all that great, I do not think this will be an issue.

8) Jacksonville Jaguars: Needs; WR, QB, OL, DL, LB: Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech: Again, being such a sought after player is not always a good thing. I believe that even with his ankle injury, Crabtree is an outstanding WR prospect at professional ranks. These last two picks all depend on the Redskins as far as I am concerned.

9) Green Bay Packers: Needs; DL, LB, DL: Pick: Andre Smith, OL, Alabama: Here is where we will see if this man can earn his keep. He is a talented lineman, and he would be a large target to get around for opposing defenses. Andre is 6'4" 332lbs. But his antics at the combine and pro day could cost him dearly. It would be a shame if he didn't get a shot here.

10) San Francisco 49ers: Needs; QB, OL, S, LB, RB: Pick: Aaron Curry, OLB Wake Forest. Mr. Curry won the 2008 Butkis award, he was consensus All American, and he led the Deacon Demons with 105 tackles. Aaron is 6'2" 254lbs. and he enjoys pain.........dealing it out that is.

Dark horses: I have three players that I think will have tremendous NFL careers.

Rashad Jennings: RB, Liberty. This man is a true stud at running back. While Liberty may not be a football powerhouse, Rashad most certainly is. He bench presses 225 lbs. a amazing 29 times at the combine. I would not want to tackle this man.

Knowshon Moreno: RB, Univ. Georgia. I love the way this kid plays the game. Like every day is is last. When his career is said and done, I think he could be a Hall of Famer.

Tony Fiammetta: Full Back, Syracuse. Tony pressed 225 lbs. 30 times. Can you say the next John Rathman?

There you have it. I can't wait for the madness to begin this Saturday. Good luck to you and your teams, may they chose wisely.

Has anyone seen my magic 8 ball?

Ahhhh.......the beauty of the start of something beautiful.

Sorry for the delay.

I apologize for not posting sooner, I had a couple of things to attend to this week. Instead of writing several posts of those things that are on my mind, I would like to incorporate them into one just to catch us up.

The NBA playoff marathon began this weekend. After all is said and done, I believe it will be Cleveland vs. the Lakers to play for the title. Who will win it all? Stay tuned just in case my picks are as bad as those I made for March Madness.

The NHL playoffs are also in full swing. There are a couple of teams that stood above the rest during the regular season. Detroit and San Jose. Will these two vie for the Stanley Cup? I think not. I believe that there are a couple of teams out there that can stir the pot. I will give you my picks for the Cup early next week.

I ask that you remember Harry and "The Bird" in your memories and prayers. They both deserve it.

Ahhhh........ the beauty of the beginnings of two post-seasons.

A Farewell to an arm...and a voice

The baseball world lost two legends this week. Harry Kalas and Mark "The Bird" Fidrych. It seems as though my posts have been a bit morbid lately, but this is not of my own volition. It is due to the fact that crap happens, and it is our responsibility to remember those that have made an impression in our lives.

Harry Kalas had a silky smooth voice that was not only used by the Philles for the last 30 plus years, but NFL films for the past quarter of a century. Harry passed away in the broadcast booth just hours before he was to announce yet another Phillie's game like he had done so many times before. Harry died doing what he loved the most. May we all have the same luck as he did.

Conversely, "The Bird" died in a manner that makes us all feel a bit vulnerable. That being said, I am grateful as a baseball fan in part that I had the opportunity to witness both of their personalities and quirks. It is a sad week for baseball fans, and humans alike.

Has anyone seen my audio recording of Harry Kalas' call of Michael Jack Schmidt's 500th home run call?

Ahhhh....the beauty of two legends having season tickets to the greatest show ever known to man.

The Masters was Masterful?

I have to say that I thought this year's tournament was a bit slow at times. I was waiting for my favorite player to finally show up and make a statement. That moment had to wait until Sunday.

How could the stage have been set any better? Phil vs. Tiger. I will tell you how, they were just the appetizer. The entree' wasn't served until almost two hours later. After a brilliant display by the top two players in the world battling each other for eighteen of the most compelling holes of golf I have witnessed in quite a while, the eventual winner was four holes behind.

There will be plenty of questions as to whether Angel Cabrera won, or everyone else lost. That is a bunch of hog wash. The top five contenders had their own chance to win the tournament and choked on it like A-Rod in October.

I was appreciative of the coverage that CBS had to offer on Sunday. They followed the two golfers that butter their ratings bread, and then followed the leaders all the way through the playoff.

All of this being said, I can't wait for the Black Course at Bethpage in the middle of June. I am quite certain that the USGA will have a bunch of fun with this already difficult course. Don't be surprised if a score over par wins this year's U.S Open.

Why you ask? Because all of the golfers complained how tough the course was the last time through in 2002. The only thing that did was inspire the USGA to make the course tougher. If the USGA has one masochistic bone in it's body, they will have the last laugh.

I have played that course many times and my best score was a 92. How does that make me feel......like I just won the lottery.

The best is yet to come.

Ahhhh....the beauty of a perfectly good walk gone bad.

Angel on the Mound

I apologize ahead of time for the cryptic and answerless post I am about to write, but I feel compelled to write down a few words about our life's dreams whether they come true or not.
As most of you probably know by now, LA Angel Pitcher Nick Adenhart was tragically killed in an auto accident just hours after he pitched six scoreless innings in a game against AL West rival Oakland last night.
What made him so special? He had Tommy John surgery after his senior year in high school. That being said, the Angels took a chance on him in the 14th round of the MLB draft five years ago, not knowing how he would perform after his elbow reconstruction.
Nick worked his tail off compiling a record of 37-28 in the minors. He had an outstanding spring, and made the big league club this year. His first start of the season was not supposed to bring that much hype, but he felt as though something special was going to happen. So much so that he called his dad and told him to fly up from his hometown in nearby southern California. What did dad do? He listened to his son. He watched his little boy, the same one he played catch with not long after he started to walk. He watched his child shut down a very competitive team in the Athletics for six innings. The joy his father must have felt cannot be measured by words.
I was a pitcher a long time ago. I had dreams of making some kind of life for me and my family playing the game I loved the most. Things didn't work out for me, but they certainly worked out for Nick. Not only last night, but forever.
I was moved by a story tonight regarding Nick and the make shift memorial outside of Angels Stadium. There was a baseball that had scribbled on it "Now you are really pitching for a team of Angels".
I don't know, nor do I care what you do or do not believe in, but I am hopeful that Nick is now in the starting rotation for one of the greatest teams ever known to man kind.
May God have mercy on the soul of the man that took those lives last night, and may he never let Nick know any kind of arm pain for eternity.
I will say the words of the first pitching coach I ever had to Nick, wherever he his tonight.
Just throw strikes kid......just throw strikes.
Ahhhhhh.....the beauty of the baseball season that never ends.

Nunchucks meets Ping Pong???

Here is an amazing short video of what is purportedly Bruce Lee playing ping pong with his nun chucks. If this is real (which I have not been able to find out as of yet) it is amazing. Even if it is enhanced is is still an awesome display. Enjoy!!!!

Congratulations Tar Heels!!

No matter how you filled out your brackets, I am fairly confident that we all have a new found respect for the city of Detroit and it's citizens. It would have been a great story to see the Spartans of Michigan State win the national championship not far from the city that has been affected the most by our current recession.

That being said, congratulations to the Tar Heels for a well fought victory.....and to the residents of Detroit, you are too strong a city to give in so easily. God speed and good luck. The nation is pulling for you.

Ahhhh......the beauty of the strength and determination of one of the greatest American cities the world has ever known.

Open letter to Josh McDaniels

I forgot to mention one thing regarding the Cutler trade to Chicago. This is a letter to Josh McDaniels, the new head coach of the Broncos. So here goes.

Dear Coach McDaniels,

I am writing this letter to you to remind you of exactly what happened within the first couple of months as new head coach of the Denver Broncos.

You found a way to alienate and lose a franchise quarterback in Jay Cutler. Your new owner Pat Bowlen has your manhood hanging from the rear view mirror of his limo because he made the trade with Chicago happen (other than that there is no pressure).

Foxboro, MA and your woobie Bill Belicheck are 1790 miles away.

Denver Bronco fans are the most loyal and boisterous in the league.

You now have Kyle Orton instead of a 25 year old pro-bowl quarterback. to lead you to the promise land.

One word of advise. Please don't buy a house in the Denver area.....just rent. Trust me, it will save you money in the long run.

Sincerely,

Denver, CO

Has anyone seen my flint and kindling???????

Ahhhh......... the beauty of the re-visitation of the Salem witch trials.

My Final Four Picks

My brackets imploded a long time ago, but I still feel the need to pick my National Championship favorite.

Michigan State vs. UCONN.
Villanova vs. UNC

I had either Louisville or Pitt winning the whole tournament depending on which of my brackets you saw. What does that mean? Zippo. I stunk up the yard with my picks. I did however mention how much parity there was in this year's tourney. All of that being said, here we go.

UCONN beats MSU
UNC beats 'Nova

UNC will beat the Huskies and cut down the nets.....WHY????? WHY NOT????? That's how sure I am.

Has anyone seen my two headed coin???

Ahhhhh....the beauty of baseball starting on Sunday Night.

Who won and who lost in the Jay Cutler deal?

The question of the hour is who got the best in the Jay Cutler deal?
What did Da' Bears get? They got a franchise quarterback of which they have not seen the likes since Jim McMahon. What else did the bears get? A fifth round draft choice in this year's draft.
What did the Broncos get? Kyle Orton, two first round draft choices, a third round draft choice and some one's lost luggage off of an international flight to JFK originating in France.
Who won? The Bears won. Draft choices are just that....choices. There are no guarantees even if they are first round picks......please see Matt Leinart.
The biggest problem I see for the Bears are their lack of quality wide receivers for Cutler to throw to. This kid has a million dollar arm and a five cent head. He will throw the ball without fear to any target on the field, and hope that his teammate will catch it. Does this profile remind you of anyone? Oh yeah....Brett Favre. Not a bad comparison, and he happened to play in the same division.
Please do not let it seem as though I am comparing Cutler to Favre, but all things being equal, I want to see the chaos that Jay can create within the Black and Blue division.
Has anyone seen my GPS?
Ahhhh.....the beauty of a strong arm and people who can actually catch the ball.

The TGA is finally back to where it belongs.....

Yes, I am quite aware that I called it the TGA, would you like to know what that stands for? Come on.....you really don't know????? It is the Tiger Golf Association. Why do I say this?....Hmmmm probably because the Arnold Palmer Invitational...which Tiger won in Tiger-esque fashion, was the most watched golf broadcast since Tiger beat Rocco Mediate in the US Open at Torrey Pines last June.

Relax, all of you Phil Michelson fans, the Masters begins a week from today. Oh, and if Amen Corner doesn't tickle your fancy, the U.S. Open will be played at Bethpage Black this year for the first time since 2002. That's right, the toughest public course on the face of the planet will host a bevvy of great players from around the world, and they too will be chewed up and spit out like so many of us that have endured this monster of a course.

While it is a bit disconcerting that Phil has closed the gap between he and Tiger for the world's number one ranking, I am fairly confident that the gap will continue to widen as the weeks pass us by.......just as long as the striped one continues to tee it up.

Has anyone seen my illegal extra long distance golf balls?

NCAA Bracket Re-Cap

I am hopeful that your brackets have not been busted to this point. I still have 14 of the sweet 16 alive in mine. I wanted to take the time to go over some of my predictions to see where I stand.

1) VCU over UCLA: Come on now, you Bruin fans were scared for a minute or 40.

2) Butler over LSU: 75-71 final score. Whew for the Tigers.

3) Western Kentucky over Illinois: Yes!!!!

4) Michigan over Clemson: Yes again!!!!!!

5) Siena over Ohio State: Yes!!!!!! times three

6) Utah St. over Marquette: NO!!!! but you have to give props to the point guard that came back from a broken foot in 3 weeks.

7) Xavier as my dark horse: Still a bucking bronco.

8) At least one 13 seed will win a game: Yes times four, Cleveland State over Wake Forest.

All of my thoroughbreds are still alive and most of the PAC 10 are no longer with us.

My final four is still in tact, and I assure you no matter what happens, this year's sweet 16 will be a sight to behold.

Good luck to all teams involved (especially those I picked to go to the Final Four). I am sure that the best/hottest team will win.

Congrats to OU, Syracuse, and the rest of the overrated teams I mentioned that are still fighting.

Has anyone seen my sunscreen? I have a Cactus League spring training game to catch.

Ahhhhh....................... the beauty of the most gorgeous sweet 16 party ever.

2009 NCAA Mens' Baketball Tourney Predictions

It is time to stop the talk, and play some hoop. Here are my predictions for the final four and I threw in a couple of what I believe to be upsets. I have some major concerns (i.e. Ty Lawson's health (PG UNC). The Tar Heels are lucky they are facing Radford in the first round, but he better be healthy for the second game, or my bracket is going to be used as wallpaper in my shed.
Upset alert: Here are my picks as to who will be bowing out early.
(11)VCU over (6)UCLA: The Bruins have made the final four the last three years. I think they are ripe for an upset, and the Rams are just the team to do it.
(9) Butler over (8) LSU: While it is a mild upset, a mid major taking out an SEC team is a little more than minor. Bulldogs over the Tigers.
(12) Western Kentucky over (5) Illinois: The Hill Toppers are a very athletic squad, and the Fighting Illini have struggled on offense lately. Guard play will dictate he outcome. WKU wins.
(10) Michigan over (7) Clemson: After an 11 year drought of not being in the dance, the Wolverines may be poised to make some noise. Clemson has been brilliant at times this year, just not lately.
(9) Siena over (8) Ohio St.: Again only a nine over an eight, but the Saints over the Buckeyes is an "EYE" opener. Sorry about the pun, I just had to.
(11) Utah State over (6) Marquette: Reason for this upset? I think The Golden Eagles are a little banged up at guard. Originally, they were my dark horse in the tournament, now, I just don't know. I think the Aggies escape with a win.
Thoroughbreds: Teams that are primed to make a run: Memphis, Louisville, Villanova, Pitt, UConn, UNC, Kansas. Michigan State.
Overrated: Teams that should pray every night before they play their games. Oklahoma, Syracuse, Florida State, Arizona State, Arizona, USC.
Dark Horse: Let me say that there are between 10 and 12 teams that could win this year. That is usually not the case. That being said, Xavier is my new Dark Horse. The Musketeers may not go to the final four, but they could break some hearts.
Final Four: Well here we are, the last four standing. Louisville, Memphis, Pitt., North Carolina.
Championship Game: Pittsburgh vs. Memphis. The Panthers are long, fast and athletic. The Tigers are extremely tough on defense. This could go down as one of the greatest finals of all time if these two have the chance to play each other.
Champion: Memphis. The Tigers will make the NCAA selection committee pay for not making them a 1 seed.
Has anyone seen my antacids?

March Sadness

The NCAA men's basketball tournament is supposed to be a celebration of the season past. The culmination is that a national champion will be crowned. The problem that I have with the current 65 team format instead of the 64 team format is that play-in game has been added.

That in and of itself is fine, but the criteria of the tournament is that the 30 or so conference champions receive an automatic bid. The question I have for the committee is why for the second year in a row, they have selected two conference champions to be a part of the "play in" game? These champions in years past would have been a lock to participate in the field of 64, now all of a sudden, two conferences are getting the shaft.

I would love for the NCAA to explain to me why the play in game is not between two of the last teams to make the tournament as say a 12 seed (i.e. Arizona, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan). These teams did not meet the criteria of playing in the tournament, yet they are assured a three day rest.

The Hornets of Alabama State and the Eagles of Moorehead State, two conference champions should be quite upset at the committee's decision that makes them compete just to play the number one overall seed Louisville Cardinals.

This scenario disturbs me to say the least. I am hopeful that the NCAA Tournament Committee does not follow in the footsteps of the "BC Mess" that currently exists regarding men's football.

This process needs to be reviewed by next year at the latest.

Has anyone seen my number 2 pencil with the extra large eraser? I need to fill out my brackets.

Ahhhh the beauty of a bunch of suits determining the fate of young men's lives.

A March Madness Update

We are four days away from learning the 33 at large entries into the tournament, but I figured I would share a little knowledge with those of us that will be entering our office pool's.

Thing I am sure of: There has never been a tournament where all four number one seeds have played together in the Final Four. This year will be no different. The NCAA is loaded with many talented basketball teams. So many, that there is no way all four one seeds will make it to the finals. Mark my words.

Thing I am pretty sure of: There will be at least two Big East teams that are awarded number one seeds.

Thing I feel good about: At least one number thirteen seed will win in the first round again this year.

Thing I am not too sure about: The Big East will have the best record of all conferences in the tournament.

Thing I would be better flipping a coin over: Oklahoma does not make it to the Sweet 16.

Thing I wouldn't bet a nickel on: A number sixteen seed wins it's opening round game for the first time in tournament history..........(I have a better chance of seeing God).

I will give my picks for the Final Four on Sunday night. This is going to be a disappointing day for many deserving teams (that's just a hunch).

Ahhh....the beauty of March Insanity.

NBA MVP debate

There has been a lot of chatter recently about who this year's NBA MVP should be. As far as I can see there are three major candidates in this discussion. Please bear with me as I usually do not watch the NBA until the playoffs start, but I think I have seen enough to make an educated guess on this one.

1) LeBron James: The powers that be in Cleveland have finally put a fair amount of talent around the King to allow him to thrive this year. That being said, this may have hurt the King's chances to win this year.

2) Kobe Bryant: I'm sorry, as far as I am concerned, Kobe has way too much talent around him to win the award this year. Between Gasol, Bynum, Odom, Walton et. al, Kobe should be nothing more than after thought in this discussion.

3) Dwayne Wade: The only true support cast that D Wade has this year is the rookie phenom Michael Beasley. Considering the lack of support he has, Wade County deserves to win the award this year with LeBron coming in a close second. If the voters had the ability to make a decision after the playoffs, the decision may be different, but they do not, so therefore my prediction stands.

D Wade 2009 NBA MVP......that is all.

Ahhhh.....the beauty of the battles on the hard wood.

Manny being .....an idiot!!!!!

Here's an open invitation to Manny Ramirez regarding his latest rejection of a two year $45 million dollar contract from the Dodges. Get out of our country!!!!! Go ahead and make that kind of money in your home country of the Dominican Republic.

You see Manny, one out of 13.15 people in this country are currently out of work an can't afford to come out to the ball park and watch you do your thing here in the U.S.. We aren't looking for sympathy, as this recession shall pass. But if you are that stupid to listen to Scott Bor"ass" then you aren't worth the price of admission anyway.

Sometimes it's not the player that we come to see, it's the person. As of right now, I am not sure that you fit that category.

Grow up, suit up and think of someone else besides yourself for once.

MLB 2009 Playoff Picks (guesses).......

Here are what I think are going to be the teams in the playoffs this year (please note that I picked the Tigers vs. the Mets in the World Series last year).

AL:
Rays, Twins, A's, Yanks.

ALCS: A's vs. Rays

Winner: Rays

NL:
Mets, Cubs, D-Backs, Brewers

NLCS: Mets

World Series: Rays vs. Mets

Winner: Rays

Last year's experience left a bad taste in the Ray's throat. They will prevail this year.

Has anyone seen my packet of Alka Seltzer?

Baseball 2009

This one is not going to be easy. I am going to try to predict the division winners based on what I know as of today. There are still some major free agents out there that I am guessing will be signed by openihg day, but I will give it my best shot to say how the playoffs will shape up anyway.

NL East:

1) NY Mets: 94-68: Bullpen is strong, lineup is tough. I am hopeful that this year the Mets can find a way to not squander a lead late in the season.

2) Phillies: 90-72 : I think that the Phillies and or Braves will fight for the Wild card spot. I think that the Phillies will find a way to get it done.

3) Braves: 88-74: The braves will finsh just a bit outside of the playoffs this year, but will be better to watch than they had last year.

4) Marlins: 86-76: I think the Marlins will compete this year, but also think they will find a way to lose a few close games at critical times.

5) Nationals: 76-86: This team will be in more games than people think. They added Adam Dunn who will give daily tours of the National Mall on a daily basis with is bat.

NL Central:

1) Cubs: 98-64; This team is built to win many games this year. Soriano has come out and said that he is willing to bat in a spot other than lead off which will allow him to drive in more runs.

2) Brewers: 92-70: This club just has too many holes that have not been filled to make a serious run at the division.

3) Astros: 88-74: This team wants to win. I actually think that Roy Oswalt can make a run for the NL Cy Young award this year.

4) Cardinals: 86-76: Too many questions about this club. So many that I may be generous giving them this many wins.

5) Reds: 84-78: Another team that has more questions than answers. I see no relief in sight.

6) Pirates: 70-92: This team will win a few more games than last year, but let's face it, the front office is nothing more than a warm up band for Tiffany (they will be alone at the bottom again).

NL West:

1) Diamondbacks: 93-69: Oneof the best starting rotations in the game will give them the edge over the Dodgers this year.

2) Dodgers: 88-74: If they do not re-sign Manny, it is going to be a long season in the Revene.

3) Rockies: 85-77: Losing Matt Holiday sent a message to me that this team is primed for a re-building phase.

4) Padres: 70-92: This team is in an ownership transition. I am being generous by saying that they will win this many games.

5) Giants: 65-97: In not so many words, it is my belief that this team is still going to suck.

AL East:

1) Rays: 99-63: I think this team is too good to go away after last year's performance.

2) Yankees: 96-66: If A-Roid can put together any kind of numbers that we are used to, the Spankees will win the Wild Card in the AL.

3) Red Sox: 94-68: The big questions for the "Nation" are will Penny make it the entire season. Will Big Papi have enough protection to allow him to drive in 130 runs? I don't think so is the answer to either question.

4) Blue Jays: 85-77: After some key losses in the lineup, I am thinking that the Orioles have a shot to be ahead of the Jays this year.

5) Orioles: 84-78: Please see above regarding my prediction fr this division.

AL Central:

1) Twins: 92-64: The twinkies are looking good to reagain the division based on their young quality talent.

2) Indians: 89-63: A much better season than last year, just not quite good enough.

3) White Sox: 88-64: This could be a year where the Sox are totally out of the playoff picture early which I believe could mean Ozzie's job. We shall see. It is going to be close.

4) Royals: 87-65: That's right. The Royals are going to be a Royal pain in the division's hind parts. A good start will dictate this team's success.

5) Tigers: 80-82: This division is so up in the air as far as I am concerned, that the White Sox could easily take the cellar dweller position.

AL West:

1) Oakland A's: 94-68: I think that the moves made in the offseason by this team will find them in the playoffs come October.

2) Angels: 88-74: After losing K-Rod, I think the Halo's will find it tough to contend this year.

3) Rangers: 85-77: If they can have Josh Hamilton for the entire season, this offense can put up some serious offensive numbers.

4) Seattle Mariners: 70-92: Unless they can sign Mr. Griffey, it is going to be a long season in the Pacific Northwest.

Please be on the lookout for my playoff picks. They will be here soon.

Has anyone seen my two headed coin?

Ahhhh.....the beauty of being certain.

I digress........

Here is an update from my last post. After careful consideration, I have decided to change my stance on the fate of all MLB players that have been linked to the use of PED's during their playing careers.

In all aspects of our collective lives as humans on this planet, there are always good and bad times that happen while we are here. Such is the case in sports. We cannot pretend that heinous events never transpired, we just soak them in, and learn from our past transgressions.

That being said, here is my updated proposal.

All players that have been linked to PED's during their playing career should become a part of the Hall of Fame in a wing designated for all such players. There will be no plaques, no induction speeches, no thanks to all of the little people that made this day possible. There should only be the mention of the steroid era's greatest players, and their impact on the game. They should be marked as what could have been if they had cheated not only the game and it's fans, but themselves.

If you think about it, it would be quite an exhibit. Think of the names that would be included for a less than appropriate reason to our nation's most sacred game. Here are a few examples.

Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mark McGuire, Rafael Palmeiro, Ivan Rodriguez, Juan Gonzalez, Jose Canseco et al. Not a bad bunch of names if not for what they meant to he game in a negative connotation.

I guess in a nutshell what I am proposing is that these legends of the game were invited to the party, but they were not allowed to join in the fun.

I have no problem with forgiving them, but I have a huge problem with honoring them.

Ahhhhh.....the beauty of setting an example.

Thanks but no thanks for the memories.........

I know it is a rather cryptic headline for the blog, but I felt it appropriate for the subject matter I am going to write about.

What the hell do we do about the half a dozen players that have desecrated the most sacred of American sports there is....baseball? Well, here is my take.

If you ever got caught cheating in school, what happened? You failed that test, then you stayed after class to clap erasers. Unfortunately, we are not talking about 7th grade biology. We are talking about cheating the fans who pay their hard earned money to see the best product available. Shame on every and anyone that has used PED's (performance enhancing drugs).

Roger Clemens: Sure fire 1st ballot hall of famer before getting caught. Proper punishment You're expelled from class. You cheated, and you're fired.

Alex Rodriguez: One of the greatest God given talents that the game has ever known. A sure fire hall of famer. Proper punishment: You're expelled from class. Why? You had the talent, and your crap for brains agent sends out your resume as to why you deserve to be the highest player in the history of the game. You had no problem receiving the money, yet you had a problem dealing with the self imposed pressure of delivering up to that contract on a daily basis. Blame Scott Bor"ass" not the baseball writers or fans for not getting into the "hall".

Barry Bonds: According only to the numbers the greatest home run hitter of all time. Proper punishment: expelled from class: Not only are you an arrogant self centered person, but it is obvious that you are still living in the body and mind of an eighteen year old thinking that you are impervious to all things human (i.e.taxes, spouses, your job).

Where does this leave us. A society that is looking for the next best thing? Interestingly enough, we do not have to look far, and he is not necessarily a "spring chicken". Ken Griffey, Jr. is without question the greatest baseball player of the past 20 years. In spite of his injuries, he, pound for pound is the greatest fielder and hitter this game can embrace without question.

If he didn't miss so many games due to the fact that he plays every day as though it is his last, he would have eclipsed all major slugging numbers by far.

If Mr. Griffey does not get signed for this next year, all devout baseball fan should celebrate Junior as if he is the second coming........of Ted Williams.

Ahhhh...the beauty of one of the sweetest swings of all time.

"A-Roid"....the saga continues.....

According to Maslow, A-Rod is still a couple of french fries short of a happy meal. Sure, A-Rod has the largest contract money wise in the history of the game of baseball, but in the back of A-Rod's head, he has to be wondering, what the hell do I have to do to be liked?

As far as I am concerned, he took a giant leap forward by nutting up and taking the blame for his prior transgressions. I love the game of baseball with all of my heart, and I always said that I would have signed for a can of Copenhagen and the pen that I signed the contract with. I was not as fortunate as A-Rod. He was the next coming of Christ according to many MLB scouts. His overall numbers, to this point have shown that they may not have been too far off. I just wish that before he stuck the needle in his ass he would have taken a longer look and had seen the faces of the people he has never met yet has disappointed them because of what he has done.

That being said, I want the names of the other 103 players on the list that the FBI has. Let us put an end to this painfully slow process of government deceit and lying. Let all of those that are guilty come before us and hope that they will apologize so that we can forgive them and move on. Until then, I guess we have to continue to love the game for what it is. A complete farce.

2009 MLB Season

Hello all,

I was going to share my picks for the division winners and World Series representatives this week. Unfortunately, there are still a multitude of current and past all stars that are still without a team as of today. While pitchers and catchers are set to report to camp this coming weekend, apparently free agent signings may go down to the last minute. Here is just a small sample of the players that are still without team as of today:

Manny Ramirez OF : He alone could determine a division champion based on his offensive prowess.

Orlando Hudson 2B: This multiple gold glove winner has yet to land a team. It's amazing how no one team needs a gold glove winner and a .300 hitter.

Adam Dunn 1B/OF: Hmmmm....sure he'll strike out 150 times, but he will also hit 40 home runs and drive in 120 runs.

Bobby Abreu OF: I don't know how much he has left in the tank, but he should have at least an invite to some team's camp.

Ken Griffey Jr. OF: Future Hall of Famer must decide whether to give another season a try or to hang up the spikes for good.

Garret Anderson: Great locker room guy, plenty of post season experience. Could help any team looking to secure a quality six or seven hitter in their lineup.

Luis Gonzalez OF: Gonzo is another veteran that needs to decide if it is time to call it a career. Another class act and great community service man.

Pedro Martinez SP: Is Pedro healthy? That is the question. I think he still wants to pitch, but with his age and lack of innings the past couple of years, it seems as though he might have a decision to make as well.

Ivan Rodriguez C: Quality veteran signal caller. His defense is still very good, it is his offense that has taken a plunge over the past couple of years.......... (coincidence)?

Ben Sheets SP: Since he is trying to decide on whether or not to have shoulder surgery, I am guessing that Ben will be out of work for the '09 season.

Juan Cruz RP: Missed some time with an arm injury last year, but still throws hard and when healthy can chew up innings.

Let's see what this coming week brings. Once some of these players come off of the board, I will give you my picks.

Have a great week!!!

Super Bowl XLIII won't soon be fogotten.

Looking past all of the potential negatives of the game yesterday, I have to say that this Super Bowl was among the top 5 of all that were ever played. The heavily favored Steelers had there collective hands full with the upstart Cardinals. While there were some gaps in excitement, the game had true football fans on the edge of their seats until the last snap. There is really not much more you could ask.

That being said, what should we expect for the 2009 regular season? I am fairly confident that there will not be a "Cinderella" story. I think that the higher seeds from both conferences have learned very valuable lessons from this campaign. I will wait to see the dust settle from the draft and free agent signings to make my early season playoff favorites for next year. Until then, hello baseball.

There are only12 days until pitchers and catchers report. There are still a bunch of big time free agents unsigned as of today (hello Manny). I will give you my spring training report towards the end of this week.

10 Must haves for the game this Sunday

I have already shared my pick with you. I am looking forward to a good game either way. What I am offering to you now is a sort of Super Bowl Survival checklist. The following 10 items are absolute must haves for the Big Game. Pay close attention because there will be a quiz later.

10. Remote Control: This is number 10 because there only going to be a couple of occasions where you will actually need to use it. None the less, it would really suck if you had to go fishing for it at an inopportune moment.

9. Drinking Game: If you are going to indulge in adult beverages during the game, please take a cab, have a designated driver or even better just pass out until Monday morning and save the cab fare. You can make up your own game based on events that transpire during the game, have a nice game of beer pong, you get the idea. Have fun and be careful.

8. Seven Layer Dip: This culinary master piece has been gaining steam over the past several years. I can tell you it is quite a feast. You can find a recipe for it just about anywhere on the web. Give it a try, you'll love it.

7. Chicken Wings: Whether you you like them with BBQ sauce or Nuclear, these aviary appendages are a must have.

6: Toilet Paper: I am sure that you have heard that during halftime, there are going to be over 371 million gallons of water that will be used while waiting for the "Boss" to perform. If you need an estimate as to the equivalent of that number.....think of 1,206,781 average size swimming pools being flushed at once.

5: Beer: Approximately 4,320,000,000 ounces of liquid gold will be consume during the game.

4: Antacids: Sales of the gastric first aid medicine increase 20% the day after the game.

3: Guacamole: Over 8 tons will be consumed on Super Bowl Sunday.

2: Your favorite team's jersey or shirt: While you might not be a fan of either team, it is OK to switch your alliance for a day.

1: Good friends and/or family: Be surrounded by the people you never get to spend a lot of time with. Enjoy the indulgence laughs and high fives with the ones your want to be with.

Please be advised that Super Bowl Sunday is the second most dangerous "holiday" to be on the roads. It is only behind St. Patrick's Day. Please show discretion in your choices and celebrate the culmination of the Football Season with care.

Super Bowl XLIII Pick

The time has come for me to pick the winner of the Super Bowl. I have given this pick a lot of thought and consideration. I have looked at all of the numbers and I have decided to make my pick based on those numbers. Here is how I have come to make my decision. These grades are based on the post season stats of each team.
Cards Steelers
Pass Offense A B
Rush Offense B B
Rush Defense A A-
Pass Defense A A-
Special Teams B B
Coaching A C
I actually think that the game might come down to a decision made on the sidelines. I believe that while the Steelers have 20 players that have Super Bowl Experience on theor roster compared to the 5 that are currently on the Cardinals roster, the Cards have what it takes to make what is being viewed as an aberration into reality. Ken Whisenhunt has been there and done that, if he can make his players believe and execute, the Lombardi Trophy is coming to the valley of the sun.
Final Score: Cardinals 28 Steelers 24
Enjoy the game and the good time you share with your friends.
Had anyone seen my recipe for 7 layer dip?

10 Reasons to watch the Super Bowl this year....

I know that not everyone is a football fan, but let's face it, there are still a bunch of reasons to watch the game anyway. I will give my pick on the game early next week, but until then have fun with this.

10) Super Bowl prop bets: You don't have to place a wager with a sports book in Vegas to have fun with some of the weirdest bets on the planet. Challenge your friends to a shot of your favorite soft drink or perhaps a buck or two. Here are a couple of my favorite prop bets.

Coin toss: Heads or tails.
Temperature at the start of the game.
Who will score first.
What color will the Gatorade be that gets dumped on the head coach of the winning team.
Who will win the MVP of the game.
Who will score more points, LeBron James or the winning team.

You get the idea. Make some prop bets up for yourself if nothing else but for entertainment.

9) Story lines within the game: Whisenhunt vs. his old team. Will Anquan Boldin blowup again? Can the worst team to ever make the playoffs win the game?

8) Bruce Springsteen is a very good reason to watch the halftime show.

7) National Anthem: Listen to what should be an amazing rendition of the star spangled banner. ((Jennifer Hudson) a touching story in and of itself).

6) Curt Warner: How will he handle the onslaught of the Pittsburgh Steeler's blitzing defense, and does he have anything left in the tank to take this team to the winner's circle?

5) GoDaddy.com commercial: Will GoDaddy.com feature another commercial that features a wardrobe malfunction that will keep you hitting the rewind button on your TiVo all night long?

4) The food: You can't beat the artery clogging goodies that are going to be available to chow on while you root for your favorite team.

3) The hangover: Please be careful while indulging in your favorite libation during the game, but let's face it. The Monday following the Super Bowl should be declared a national sickout day.

2) Friends: Chances are you do not get to spend that much time with your friends, and what better way then to watch a game, having a couple of cold ones, and playing a pick up game of touch in the backyard.

1) Commercials: Let's face it, it is the one reason we all watch the football game to begin with. We can only hope that they are better this year.

Enjoy the game, be careful and for God's sake.......don't invite your boss to your party. You wouldn't want to vomit on his new Porsche.

Has anyone seen an updated copy of my resume?

Ahhh....the beauty of consuming bean dip within the confines of a small crowded space.

Which two teams are going to the Super Bowl??

This year's NFL playoffs have been quite entertaining to say the least. Who would have thought that the Eagles would be playing the Cardinals and that Ravens would be playing the Steelers to see who gets a shot at the ring?

I have given both games some serious thought and have made my picks accordingly:
Philadelphia Eagles vs Arizona Cardinals: (Eagles -4): The NFC Championship is coming to the valley of the sun. I have to say that the ever increasing fan base is embracing their team like never before. It looks as thought Anquan Boldin will be ready to go after straining his hamstring against the Falcons. On the other side of the football, Brian Westbrook supposedly tweaked his already sore knee. What does it all mean? Two good defenses against two good offenses. In one of the greatest games ever played: Cardinals 24-Eagles 21 (please don't call me a homer....I picked the Cardinals against the Falcons).

Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: (Steelers -6): This match up part 3 is going to be a slug fest. Not in the baseball sense of the word, but the I am going to open up a can of whoop ass sense of the word. If any of the combatants leave their lunch pails at home, tell the coach your mom is calling you and you can;t come out to play today. The makers of Advil and morphine are not going to be feeling any of the ill effects of the recession after Sunday. My prediction Steelers 17-Ravens 10.

Sit back, relax, and cheer your favorite team on this Sunday.

Has anyone seen my Aspercreme???

Ahhh the beauty of assault without any criminal penalty.

Adam sent "pac"-ing

Pacman, what a waste, what a shame. If you could only get over your addiction to strip clubs, you may have actually made something of yourself. Good luck with your lawsuit against ESPN. You have absolutely no credibility at all. The only thing you had was talent, and you found a way to let that go down the drain.

I hope it was worth it, trying to seem like a big man with all of your money in front of a bunch of ladies that couldn't care less who you were. The thing that sucks the most is that they care even less about who you now are.

Like the Milli Vanilli classic........."Blame it on the Rain"

Has anyone seen my umbrella?

Ahhhhh.....the beauty of blowing your cash on a stripper named "Mandy Mounts" ....sorry I love the movie Armageddon.
